Worst experience ever

I’m 21f and just had my first kidney stone. Just wanted to vent and tell my story I guess.

After Easter dinner Sunday, I started feeling nauseous and sick. Probably around 8pm. I eventually threw up and thought I ate something bad or had a virus and hoped that was the end of it. It wasn’t.

20 minutes later I vomited again, and this is when the pain started. I had excruciating pain in my left lower back. Worst pain I’ve ever experienced. I also felt the constant urge to pee, but couldn’t pee.

I was writhing around on the bathroom floor alternating between violently vomiting, and trying to pee. After around an hour of this my mom came in and was like wtf, we’re going to the er. I told her I thought I was dying. This was around 2:30am.

I can’t remember the drive to the hospital or really anything before I got pain meds. I was sobbing and trying to answer their questions as best I could. They put an iv in and got me on fluids and oxy pretty quick. 20 minutes later it started to kick in. I just remember being so grateful and happy to no longer be in pain. I was also finally able to pee so that felt great too.

After I felt ok, they took me for a scan to figure out what was wrong. It was a kidney stone on the left side and they also found an ovarian cyst (yay me!)

They gave me more anti nausea and pain meds and in total 3 bags of fluids. I was in the er for a total of 10 hours. Been home around a day. Got prescribed more oxy, anti nausea, and flomax. So far I’ve only taken the flomax and some Tylenol.

I was terrified for the pain to come back, but I’ve been home from hospital 24 hours and it hasn’t. I’m thinking the stone maybe passed one of the times I peed at the hospital? I do however have severe chest pain, I think I may have pulled something there from vomiting so much. I’ve been sleeping and finally got the strength to take a bath. Back to work Thursday. If anyone has any insight or had a similar experience, I’d love to hear.
