I'm a 19 year old male, and recently on May 5th I went to the walk-in clinic because my stomach hurt a bit and I was peeing blood. They found an 8mm kidney stone in my left kidney—it's just free-floating in there, and I've been terrified every day thinking about that terrible pain everyone talks about. I'll most likely have to wait a while for the shockwave thing they wanna do, probably over a month. I just need some help right now, this is my first stone btw

Oh buddy. Make sure you drink LOTS of water. Take a shot of lemon juice like once a day or every other day. If it really starts to hurt, get to the doctor ASAP. That's about all the wisdom I've got. I've had 8 stones since I was 16 (I'm 31 now) and they were all under 6mm. You'll be ok.

Eight millimeters is actually on the smaller side when it comes to passing it on your own, and plenty of people at 19 pass stones without needing any intervention at all. The waiting period sucks, I know, but it's also when you can actually do something useful instead of just spiraling. Start drinking a ton of water right now—at least 2.5 to 3 liters a day.
