I had PCNL surgery for a 22 mm stone, but after the surgery they left an 8 mm piece behind—the doctor said the stone moved up to the upper part and it was impossible to take it out through the tract. Now I'm going in again for laser surgery on May 21st. I don't know what's going to happen this time. If anyone has been through the same thing, please share.

Stone Fighter #17A9FEMay 11, 2026I had a "failed" PCNL too. We waited, watched, and measured it, and eventually did another lithotripsy that broke it up some—but it's still there. I'm going in for a laser with vacuum retrieval in about a month.
Stone Fighter #432B42May 11, 2026I had a PCNL a few weeks back—10mm, 10mm, and 6mm stones. The surgeon got two out; the third was really tricky because it was in a position he couldn't reach. He still went for it and got it, but I need a CT to confirm. If it's still there, I'm in the same boat as you.
