I know I can send in for testing but was curious if it’s possible to identify the type just based on looks??

Passed this while in third trimester of pregnancy… a whole new level of torture

Not with any degree of certainty, no. Stones aren't always comprised of a single mineral type either. It's best to be sure, since different stone types require different preventative measures. I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well for you!

Sorry, you may change your stance when you hear this. A lot of pregnant women say they can't tell when they've passed a stone on this subreddit. There's a hormone released during pregnancy, called relaxin, that acts like Flomax but better. After that hormone is no linger produced, they feel it like everyone else
