Patient journey

I just got hospitalized for the 3rd time in 18 months with large kidney stones that cause sepsis. Only 7mm this time, 11mm last time. One minute I'm fine—no issues peeing, no pain. Then all of a sudden my back hurts... Go to the ER, get admitted, and I'm stuck there for at least 5 days on antibiotics and surgery. Like wth... Again.  But in 18 months and 3 hospitalizations, I've never once been able to pass a stone. I've had surgery EVERY TIME.  Something's got to give. I don't drink much soda or sugar. Not much salt in my cooking, and I barely eat fast food. And I drink tons of water and cranberry juice.... So I give up.  Ugggg, I just have to remove my own stent in two days.  (I'm a pro now) Lol, and we'll see what happens next. How long till the next one.  Usually it's one side then the other.  The last three times have all been on the left side hmmmm

Have you had any analysis of what's causing the stones? What type of stones you get? A 24-hour urine test?

They tell me calcium phosphate. But I drink tons of water daily, no soda. And I don't eat much salt or fast food.  Soo idk.  Getting them to analyze it again

You need a 24-hour urine test. Just have a normal day—eat your regular diet and drink your regular amount of liquids (which should be permanently upped, hopefully). It'll tell you what's going on in your urine and your kidneys. They can recommend MUCH more specific diet changes, and even medications that can seriously improve your outcomes.
