How does kidney stone progression go?

Ive started getting pain in my left side , towards back around love handle area. It started last night and got slightly worse today, I have been drinking tons of water and took ibuprofen and it seems to help. From what I’ve read I’m guessing it’s a kidney stone? I just got back from a 3 day golf trip that consisted of 99 holes in a 3 day period. I’m kind of hoping it’s a late onset soreness or something from swinging so much but it kinda just has a pain that just kinda seems like it would be more organ then muscle related. Can anyone share a time frame progression on how it may go from here? I’m really trying to figure out what it is without going to the doctor. Right now pain is bearable, obviously if it becomes unbearable I will definitely seek medical attention I’m just stressing about the unknown

I've had kidney stones three different times across ten years and from my experience and what I know of others' experiences there isn't really a normal progression. The same sized stone in the same location can be felt completely differently across people or in the same person across time. If you are dealing with a stone, you could be rid of it by tonight or it might take surgical intervention. The stone could cause chronic pain for weeks or it could slightly shift and be fine for months or y...
Yeesh, that golf trip dehydration combo is exactly how stones love to form. Three days of swinging in the heat, probably not drinking nearly enough water between holes, and boom -- perfect storm. The pain location you're describing (left side, toward the back around the love handle area) does match where kidney stones typically hang out. They'll do a CT scan and know in minutes. But that gets people -- even if this one turns out to be muscle soreness, the dehydration that caused it is exactly...
Yessir , i did drink a fair amount of water and electrolytes but for as much activity as i was doing im sure it wasn’t nearly enough. I drank well over a gallon of water yesterday and its slowly reasiding and as of now its about 90% better and i can just barely tell if I bend the right way. Hopefully like you said dodged the bullet this time and I’ll learn from it lol
