Omg, pain after stent removal is the WORST

I got my stent removed about 2 hours ago in office and it went fine, sharp pain and cramps for a few minutes but tolerable. But now I just got hit with horrible cramping pain in the back/flank and OMG, what the hell. I've never had renal colic since my stone was too large to move, this SUCKS. I just popped a toradol since I have a bunch left from my ER visit, how long does this last?! My doctor only said some discomfort and blood would be possible for a few days, the bastard.

Stent removal pain caught me off guard too and felt worse than the stone itself. Heat pads and the meds they give helped me through the first day. It eases fast after that spike though.

I wish they'd would've given an honest heads up! It's easing a bit for now after the toradol and heating pad, hope it doesn't come back worse! Also having the urge to pee like crazy, ugh

Stent removal itself was fine for me, but I had residual pain for 2 days. I ran an errand because I was feeling better and I almost passed out waiting in line. Still take it easy and keep up with pain meds. I used the heating pad, Oxybutynin, Azo, and Tylenol for several days after. Best wishes

I can't use oxybutynin bc it causes retention for me, but heat, azo and toradol seem to be doing okay right now. Thank you!

Heating pad and Hydrocodone saved me two weeks ago. So painful. Got stent out in the morning at 10:30. Cramps hit about 1:30. Intermittent throughout the night last attack was around 5am the next day and then I was ok. Nearly fainted from the first cramp. I was supposed to drive 3 hours for work later that day and the doc said it was fine. Nurse looked at me and said “I wouldn’t do that”. 🤦🏻‍♂️

How many days was the stent in place? What stone treatment did you have? Sometimes the pain is related to residual fragments and sometimes it’s due to residual swelling following the procedure? It’s more common to have trouble if the stent is removed less than 5 days after the procedure.
