Ureter stone here! Any advices will help

Hello, stoners! (English is not even my 3rd language so if it is broken, this is the reason) In February, after a big pain on my back, went to ER here in my European country and after testes and CT, a 5-6mm stone in the distal ureter(lodged there, blocked). 7 hours there with pain and all! They prescribed me a med with tamsulosin and some pain killers! From that day, just 3 episodes of pain in the next 5 days! Next, a full month without any pain and i was thinking the stone was gone but noooo! 3 days ago another 6-7 hours of pain and went again to the hospital and they did this time a ultrasound! 7 mm they say and the position is still there(1.3 cm frimt the bladder) I have 2 questions: 1. Why they say the stone is now 7 mm? Is there a chance that ultrasound make the stone look bigger?(I was looking and they all say ultrasound make it look 1-2 mm bigger) 2. For stoners with 5-6-7 or even 8mm stones, it is normal to take even months to pass them? If i don't have pains, i don't want the surgery even if it is minim invasive but i don't like the ideea of that stent! Thanks you for future answers! I now take Silodosin wich i heard is more efficient than Tamsulosin!

I was going through the same thing, had my laser ureteroscopy 4 days ago, I had 12mm uric stone stuck mid of my ureter, 2 week back I had to visit ER two times due to heavy pain. Thanks! Okay, you did the surgery but your stone was 12mm, mine is half! I have seen here many people with even bigger stones: 8-9-10mm who passed them with medicine! I still want to pass mine(6-7mm) with Silodosin and water and Chanca Piedra! The stone is 13mm from the bladder! Stuck there but i have hope the darn thing will move those 13mm of a distance into the bladder with lots of water and lots of walking! Years ago i passed one of 7mm

I hope you'll pass it by yourself, just drink a lot of water and medicine, I heard many success stories of people here who passed stones naturally. I hope you'll pass it too, only my concern is, don't wait if it starts creating problems like frequent pain around the kidney area, if you see mild or more than mild hydronephrosis in USG or CT reports, vomitting, fever, frequent blood in urine, these are some signs you need to watch for to take immediate action, that's what my doc advised to me w...

I have an obstructed 7mm stone in my ureter. I've had some crazy pain but nothing meets the pain I had from the stone. Long story short I ended up being put on flomax and had a stent put in place. Im going on my 3rd week of the stent. I replaced massive pain for some discomfort. I have ESWL surgery soon. If you have that option and continue to have unmanageable pain , I would consider it! I hope it all works out for you smoothly, the pain is disrespectful lol.

Yeah, when it comes (the pain) is horrible! But i have talked with many people and there is this thing with ESWL without the stent! Many said stents can cause infections as is something that the organism try to attack as something in you! They say if the stone is very close to the bladder, and under 1.5-2 cm, the EWSL could be made WITHOUT the stent! It is not intrusive, invasive! It is extracorporeal! Both your questions are really good ones. On the size discrepancy: Yes, ultrasound consistently overestimates stone size by 1-2mm compared to CT scan, and sometimes more. This is well-documented in urology literature. The CT measurement of 5-6mm was more accurate. The 7mm on ultrasound likely reflects the same stone with measurement artifact.
