Many times. Never felt any pain during the procedure but rather one of the strangest sensations you’ve ever felt. Very common procedure. Sometimes they leave a string and you do it yourself! I honestly don’t remember where the anesthesia was applied. I just close my eyes the whole time. I have felt some pain after when I get home as the procedure can irritate your ureter and cause some inflammation. They will give u some meds. Anxiety is by far the worst part.

I (M) have had 4 stents removed 2 - General anesthesia surgery 1 - DIY pull it out yourself via string 1 - Urologist's office (procedure room) Honestly, the general anesthesia ones were the easiest - other than the surgery prep (no food/drink and in my case stopping blood thinners, etc). Go to sleep, wake up and gone - in my case both times unfortunately replaced with another stent! I was supposed to remove the DIY one on a Monday but Saturday felt it sticking out. Freaked out and scream...

Hello, 43m here. I was given Valium to take an hour before the stent removal. And then they squirted numbing gel up my urethra about 10 minutes before the procedure. The numbing gel helped SO MUCH. Like the other commenter said, it was just such a weird sensation. It felt like lower abdominal cramping, sort of like pre-diarrhea cramps (sorry, TMI).
