Ultrasound 3 weeks ago showed 2 kidney stones (2.6mm and 3mm) in both kidneys, but a CT scan yesterday showed no stones in either kidney. Which one should I believe?

But I have pain on the left side of my abdomen, below the rib cage, going to the back. What could that mean?

Real talk — for kidney stones, a CT beats an ultrasound by a mile, especially with little ones in the 2–3 mm range. An ultrasound will sometimes call a small calcification, a shadow, or even plain old normal anatomy a stone when it isn't one. So if yesterday's CT came back clean, the CT is what I'd believe. Those tiny stones could also have made their own way out somewhere in the past 3 weeks and you'd never have known, which happens all the time at that size. Tons of people get told there'...
