My kidney stone has me worried

I had an ultrasound in December 2025 that showed multiple 4mm kidney stones. My nephrologist missed this because I was never given any treatment (my previous nephrologist would put me on potassium citrate after any stones). Fast forward—I got an X-ray in May 2026, and it showed a 9.2mm kidney stone.

I made an appointment with a urologist, but they sent me for a CT scan first to get an accurate reading before any intervention. My CT scan is in 3 days (5 days after my urology appointment), and my follow-up urology appointment to go over the results is Friday (9 days after my urology appointment and 4 days after my CT). I REALLLLY HOPE the urologist will actually do something about it, because I CAN NOT afford to delay treatment only to be referred to yet another specialist just because the urology office doesn't do the procedure I need.

It's only been 3 days since my urology appointment. He did a physical exam and I felt no pain. Literally the very next night, I started getting heavy, dull pressure pain on the side where my stone is. And today I got really sharp pains. I'm getting pretty scared and anxious that the stone really is 9.2mm, that it's moving, and that the office won't offer the treatment I need. I have very limited PTO, so I can't call out. I've been going to work through this pain because so far it's tolerable.
