Here are photos of my first and hopefully last rock baby. This small thing sent me to the ER with severe pain and messed up labs. I drank copious amounts of water and passed it four days later. I was surprised by how light it is in color (the orange-y shade is probably from AZO). Would you describe this as a 4mm x 2mm stone? 2.5mm? Do color and shape point to a cause? I’ll take it in.

I would agree on your size estimate. As far as composition, the only way to know for sure is to have a lab analyze it. I will say, though, that looks nothing like the calcium oxalate stones that my body loves to make!

the size looks about right - roughly 4mm in its longest dimension based on the ruler. the irregular jagged edges you can see on the photo are typical of calcium oxalate monohydrate stones, which is the most common type. struvite stones tend to look more staghorn-like and much larger. uric acid stones tend to be smoother and less jagged. the orange-brown colour you are seeing - yes, AZO will do that to any passed stone. the actual stone colour gets masked. to know the true composition you n...
