is this how a kidney stone usually starts or am I overthinking it?

so I’ve had this dull ache in my lower back on one side since yesterday
it’s not unbearable, just kinda… there and annoying. but every now and then I get a sharper twinge that makes me pause for a second
no fever or anything, just feels weirdly specific to one side
I’ve never had a kidney stone before so I don’t know what the “early stage” even feels like
does it usually start mild like this or does it just hit all at once?

Mine start with me peeing pink.
Mine did, and a slight amount of blood in my urine. That was a 1 day notice, the next day the real pain came along.
Many of the stones I have had started that way. Others have been out of the blue with mind searing pain. The ones that start with a dull ache and random pangs of stabbing pain will sometimes grow into full-on pain stones, or they can pass peacefully without much trouble. It's all very random for me!
