Recently went to a urgent care type of facility who told me I have a kidney stone. Had flank pain and period feeling like cramps here and there but it’s slowly a lot since yesterday. Before this I had peed blood here and there for a couple weeks. I feel like wouldn’t be taking this long if it’s a small one!? Curious if I shoudl wait it out longer and see if it’ll pass or if I should make a different doctor appointment to get a scan done which they don’t do at the place I went to. Opinions wanted thanks

Stone Fighter #97CA31Apr 21, 2026What time of imaging did they do to determine you had a kidney stone? How big is it. My 4 mm took 2 weeks to pass. My 5 mm was surgically removed because it wouldn’t pass after 3 weeks.

As other poster said size and current location is needed because they can tell you the chances of the stone passing and estimate on how long it might take. If it is on the larger size you may need to schedule a procedure to have it removed. The other thing you can do is ask for a perscription for Flowmax which can reduce ureter muscles and make it easier to pass the stone. Also would be a good idea to see a Urologist.
