My mother had her stent taken out after a kidney stone and has had persistent pain for the past weeks

My mother had her stent taken out during the end of March. She’s also dealing with breast cancer, so healing is a little bit slow of course. However after having her stent remove, she’s been having sharp pain that she describes as stabbing persist through her lower back and then slowly coming to the front. These usually occur after she drank something sugary like a pop.
She had also stopped taking her meds a while back before starting up again due to these pains.
Edit: Is this normal? What’s happening

I would have her contact the urologist and make sure she doesn’t have any obstructions
