first time kidney stone! what was that

Hi everyone,

I’m 26F and for the past 4–5 weeks I’ve had urethral burning, needing to wee a lot, and UTI-type symptoms. I’ve had 2 lots of antibiotics but they didn’t help, and all my tests (urine, bloods, STI etc) came back clear.

On Monday I passed a kidney stone (around 5mm). I didn’t really feel it come out, probably because I’d already had ongoing discomfort. It was confirmed it was a stone and I’m waiting on a CT scan.

It’s now been 3 days and I still have burning in my urethra and that constant urge to pee.

Is this normal after passing a stone? How long did it take for you to feel back to normal?

I am glad you passed the stone! And yes, it is kinda normal to feel burning especially if the stone was jagged and scratch the urinary tract on the way out! Keep taking some pills to prevent a infection and healing the eventually scratches on your ureter/urethra! 😃 I have one 5-6mm in my UVJ for more than 2 months! 🫤 I hope i will pass that one day! Doesn't cause me problems. I take Silodosin and 2-3 liters of water daily and walking!

Thank you! I really hope it heals up soon! I'm worried there's more up there causing issues but hopefully its not and just needs to heal! Will find out at my CT scan for sure! Hope you pass yours soon!

I passed a 5mm one week ago today. I still had blood in my urine until yesterday, and I still have some low-grade aching & pain in my kidney & ureter area even today. I’ve also felt so beat up and exhausted. Today, I’m feeling more functional. I still passed a few fragments two days afterward. Call your doctor if you don’t feel improvement soon. You could have a UTI or another stone. I’m sorry for what you’re going through
