Trying to pick between ureteroscopy and passing the stone on my own before an international trip.

Hi there. Curious to hear what you all think here.
I've been carrying a 5mm stone for roughly 2 weeks. The CT findings from 2 weeks back describe it as a "5mm obstruction stone in the right proximal to mid ureter. Upstream hydronephrosis."
I've dealt with kidney stones in the 3-4mm range before, and those always went out in a couple days. Based on what I've read, this one could take anywhere from 2-6 total weeks to pass on its own (assuming it passes at all). The pain has been really minimal. I've only taken Norco twice since I left the ER, and a couple nights back I got a burning feeling at the tip of my penis plus urgency to pee that made me thing the stone was nearly out, but I saw no stone in the strainer or the toilet.
I fly out of the country in 2 weeks, and the doctor managed to book me a ureteroscopy in 2 days, but I'd really like to see whether I can pass this stone on my own rather than dealing with the hassle and expense of the procedure, the stent, etc. Having barely any pain makes me feel like can I push the procedure back, and if the stone doesn't pass before then, I should still be fine. I'm just worried about things getting worse on a plane or while I'm away. The doctor said they're able to prescribe extra Norco for me to bring along just in case, and I have Flomax.
Has anybody been in a similar spot or have a take on what I should do? I've got until tomorrow to make the call on going ahead with the ureteroscopy or not. Any advice or thoughts would mean a lot!
Edit: Passed it roughly 30 minutes after I posted this! Strangest stone of my whole life. Didn’t even feel it come out…

With hydronephrosis you really need to get it taken out. Speaking for myself, I would not deliberately fly out of the country carrying that.
I'd go ahead with the surgery. My first one didn’t require a stent. The second was elective and they took the stones out before they left the kidney, so I ended up needing a stent for 5 days. It wasn’t too bad. I did once drive 1 state over with an obstructive stone and that was downright miserable. I can’t even picture an international flight.
The stone just came out, so we're all good!
