Was An X-Ray Enough?

Was a KUB X-Ray enough to show up your kidney stones that were 4mm and under?

Back story… I have 10 kidney stones all up, largest is 4mm. They’re all in my kidneys and have been since at least 2022. A ct scan in late 2024 showed that they were all still there and there had been no change. I also had an ultrasound but that didn’t show anything! Fast forward to now, my urologist wants new scans, but he’s opted for X-Ray :-( and I know ct is generally the gold standard.

I suspect i will be needing to request a ct scan! I also worry it’s just a way of getting rid of me, because he can show me the X-Ray that will show no kidney stones and he can send me on my merry way… when what really is going is that the X-Ray hasn’t picked them up!!! Argh… fingers crossed the X-Ray does in fact pick them up. But I will request a ct, even if I’m told that it seems like all my stones have just disappeared…
