I was diagnosed with a kidney stone at 15, and up until now it's been light work. It's 2:00 am and I'm just lying in bed, wincing in pain every 5 seconds. This is horrible and I don't know what to do to make it stop—if anyone has any tips, I'd really appreciate it.

Lying flat will hurt more than reclining or sitting up. If you're not sleeping, pacing helps in two ways: the impact of each step might help the stone move down, and the walking helps your brain manage the pain. Since you said you've been diagnosed with a stone, I'm hoping you were prescribed pain medicine. Drink a lot of water and distract yourself as best you can.

A heating pad works for me. I even made it through a drive from WA to AZ with a battery-powered heating pad I picked up at Target.
