Hey everyone, I just had my first kidney stone experience 😖 the ER sent me home after morphine and a CT scan, but didn’t tell me anything. I have no idea what’s supposed to happen or what I’m supposed to do from here… all I know is that I have a 6mm and a 3mm stone in my bladder. How long does it typically take to pee it out? Should I expect more pain from when it makes it to the bladder and when I pee it out? Are there any “tricks” with all of this that I should know about? Should I follow up with a doctor or urologist? The ER didn’t tell me annnnnything…

Stone Fighter #432B42May 2, 2026I had a 30mm stone which gave me excruciating waves of back and general torso pain, before it was removed. During this time I also passed many smaller stones naturally. Not sure how long they take to exit the kidney, but the best thing that I found was drink plenty of water everyday (about 3L), and drink it consistently throughout the day. Stone Fighter #D39453May 2, 2026Personally, I thought the worst pain was while the stone was still in my ureter. Bladder pain is more of a sensation, like the beginnings of a UTI. If you have a PCP try reaching out to them or even setting yourself up with a urologist. Good luck!
