Hi everyone, After a first kidney stone measuring 3mm, which passed naturally after a month (a really awful month), a second one measuring 6mm was discovered in the same kidney. My urologist recommended lithotripsy, which I agreed to. So on Wednesday, I was at the hospital, and it went very well. It was broken up in 20 minutes flat. No pain at all. The only unsettling thing was the large amount of blood in my first urine. Since then, I've felt small pieces coming out, but without any problems. I'm really glad I had it done before it became lodged. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Take care everyone.

Good news! Good luck for you! I have read about lithotripsy (the one with sounds shock waves) is a safer choice than ureteroscopy bcz nothing will be put inside you! I hate the ideea they put something in me from my pee pee hole! And that stent who everyone talks, is a horror one! To "bombing" a stone with shock waves from lithotripsy, and to see results: transforming a 6-7mm stone into very small pieces, the stone must be under 1000 or even under 800 UH density! In my country, we don’t have any procedure if the kidney stone is under 8-9mm unless some complications happen, cause in most cases it can be passed naturally.

How do you know the density of your stone?

They can measure it during a scan. Mine was 950; it's very hard, but the lithotripsy still worked. What can help the procedure is to be as less "fatty" as possible.

Yeah, they found my density to a CT scan: 552 UH! I am glad your 950 one worked with lithotripsy! So there is a very big chance for mine to work! But i must make some money! It is from 400 to 500 euros here in my country! And i am not fatty at all, so the chances to make that stone into pieces are increasing! Anyway, i am still on a treatment with Silodosin and some Uractiv Litho and 3 liters of water daily! I hope it will come down to my bladder being at 1.3 cm to the bladder
