Hi everyone,

I (26 y/o F) have been getting kidney stones for about 10 years now. Every year or so I’ll get a big one with that classic kidney stone pain, but from what I’ve been told, I’m passing small ones constantly. Every time I get imaging done, there are at least two in each kidney.

I’ve made every change I can think of—drinking plenty of water, changing my diet, etc.—but it seems like the kidney stone life has chosen me for good.

I wanted to ask: does anyone else with recurring stones feel like it messes with your mental health? My kidney is **almost always** sore, and it’s rare that I get a good, symptom-free week. I’m just exhausted. If it does, how do you keep your spirits up?

And it always seems to be the left kidney with that constant, dull ache, which is the same side I’ve had my lithotripsies on.

I know I need to keep digging to figure out why I’m getting them, but I guess I’m mostly just looking for some camaraderie in the meantime!

Here’s the stone for tax :)

What are the stones made of?

I’m not sure! I haven’t been to the urologist since high school ( 10000% my fault), but even back then he wasn’t concerned with testing them

Get them tested, because water and diet aren’t the silver bullet some people make them out to be.
