Has anybody else seen the ultrasound and CT report different sizes, where one comes back with a larger/smaller measurement than the other ?

yes! Mine showed 6.4mm on the ultrasound, then the CT came back with a 7mm x 4mm stone. Both were done today.

Most of the time, ultrasounds end up overstating how big a stone is. That happens because it works off ultrasonic waves that pick up the stones, and the shadow a stone throws is bigger than the actual object — a lot like hand shadows on a wall. CT-KUB is the gold standard here, since it measures the stone across every dimension by stacking the sliced images into a 3D reconstruction.

Got a CT scan and they told me it was 2mm. Everybody was like “that'll pass within a few days. Fast forward 7 weeks and another CT scan says it's 5mm. Now they want to go in there and pull it out. Long story short, even using the exact same tool, CT scans, they still manage to get these wrong..
