Ultrasound and UA normal but feels like stone

Anyone a known kidney stone victim and still have a hard time figuring out if it’s typical back pain or kidney stone pain? Last stone i passed at home was 5mm and i thought my back just hurt. I was vacuuming and felt that very well known pinch in my urethra and it was a stone.
I’m experiencing that same flank groin pain now but ultrasound and UA were normal. They didn’t do a ct because they are trying to limit radiation with my history of stones requiring CT frequently.
Has anyone had an ultrasound and UA be normal and still have a stone pass?? This doesn’t feel like back pain this feels more like kidney.

Stone Fighter #97CA31Apr 11, 2026My understanding is ultrasound can’t really visualize the ureters. If you are having groin type pain in particular, it could indicate a stone in the ureter, which wouldn’t be visible on ultrasound.
Stone Fighter #9CC827Apr 11, 2026That was my thought as well. I have had UA look normal and still pass a stone a few days later. My husband is a Dr and said to just take Flomax and assume it is a stone but Flomax makes me feel so lightheaded.
