**First test :**

3.3L of urine, drank less that usual (below 2L because I did not know if I could use a water bottle)

515mg calcium per 24H (max normal value is 300)

44.9mg oxalate per 24H (max normal value is 44)

My urologist only said that calcium was too high. I ate a lot of calcium by the time.

**Second test**

I eat more, went to restaurant the day before but else…I skipped one portion of calcium.

4.6L of urine (! only drank 2.75L of fluid)

301mg calcium

BUT

95.5mg oxalate !!!!!!

===

Am I screwed?

1/ I do not understand how I can produce that much urine (I respected the protocol)

2/ My calcium was reduced but oxalate doubled. I don’t know what the hell I ate to produce that much… I will be extra cautious now…

3/ My only positive thing is that I computed average urine concentration and it’s below threshold according to one study I found (thanks to these 4.6L of urine: about 0.22 mmol/L vs 0.31 the threshold)

I was happy for one month and half after ureteroscopy being stone free but now I am starting to freak out…

Thanks

This article (and whole site about kidney stones) should help. https://kidneystones.uchicago.edu/2016/02/14/putting-it-all-together/ Also look into https://kidneystonediet.com/start/ It’s run by Jill Harris, a nurse that worked with the researcher at University of Chicago that wrote the first link/site and the diet is based on his research. Eta: There’s also a Kidney Stone Diet Facebook group.

Thanks, I read this and honestly I am uber cautious but maybe I missed something. I do not like chocolate, I stopped spinach (liked it before), stopped almonds (took it for health), … I might fail sometimes but I avoid the terrible list overall.  The first time I was more diligent and used to drink milk with every meal (too much?). I did not eat that much the first time and still was at upper threshold. I am afraid my issue comes from genetics…. I used to enjoy meat, man I wonder if I should...

Urologist here. Let me help you make sense of these numbers, because they tell a pretty clear story. First test: calcium 515mg in 24H with only 3.3L of urine output is significant hypercalciuria. For context, the normal threshold is usually around 250 to 300mg per 24 hours. Your oxalate at 44.9mg was essentially borderline normal. Second test: calcium dropped to 301mg, which is borderline, but your oxalate jumped to 95.5mg, which is more than double the upper limit of normal. That is a ...
