Another spring, another 10mm+ stone

- Patient journey
I spent the last week throwing up, stomach pain, diarrhea, temps from 95.6 to 101, thought I had the flu or covid, day five rolls around, I go in to get formal testing. And guess what, it's my kidneys, again. I have a 10 mm Stone in one side and 2-3 mm on the other. And have developed a bacterial infection to go along with them. But hey not sepsis yet. Did I have even the slightest hint of a stone back in February when I had my checkup? No. So here I go again. I absolutely hate that I get referral pain not kidney pain. I just wanted to rant.

Ugh, I’m so sorry, that sounds brutal. The combo of GI stuff plus fever would have had me thinking flu too, not stones. Referral pain is the worst because it just makes everything more confusing and delayed. Hope they get you on good antibiotics and a solid plan to deal with that 10 mm monster. Rant any time, honestly.
I’m so sorry. It’s crazy how fast a stone can form. I had a CT scan in Nov with nothing and then had a stone in February then another in April. 10mm is a surprise since just Feb! I hope you’re getting good care & pain management.
Another stone! You forgot the drink the daily 2-3 liters of water? Or even with high intake of water we are still getting stones? They say the most proven first thing to prevent these miserable things: kidney stones, is to drink plenty of water to dilute our urine and flush the mycrocristals from the kidney so we don't let them bind and grow! If you drink your water it means drinking lots is a fake trash study and it will not help!
