Patient journey

Detected with kidney stones of 13 mm and 17 mm in both sides of kidney, acute pain back in 2023. Was admitted in hospital and ureteroscopy done. Post stent removal i was fine.

Fast forward in 2026 despite drinking 3L water per day, avoiding tomato seeds, spinach and switching to low oxalate food, was detected with total 7 stones in either side of Kidneys. Stone size varies from 6-7 mm to 12 mm. Again admitted to hospital and all stones removed. Post surgery doctor also told me that there are calcium deposits on surface of kidney which can again lead to stone formation (pictures attached showing calcium deposits)..

I am really really frustrated as to what should i do now? Stone type came as calcium oxalate. Due for 24 hour urine test as doctor advised to wait for full recovery as stent was removed yesterday. But also told me not to be very hopeful as it doesn’t help many people.

Does it mean only option is to keep admitted in hospital and go for surgery every 2-3 years? Is this end of life then?

I had 3 surgeries in the last 2 years but none this year. I still have stones but they’re smaller so we’re waiting on them. Sometimes it’s genetics (in my case).

Yeah same thing my urologist told me that its genetics and my body tendency to form stones. Nothing much can done about it. How are you coping with it buddy if i may ask more from mental standpoint? I am always in fear..

I basically lived in fear after my second surgery lol. But I’m fine now, you get more used to it. I think being monitored more frequently eases it so we’re aware of what may be going on. At some point you kind of accept it’s going to happen again, but you’re able to handle it a lot better.
