Anyone make calcium phosphate stones?

Just had a urologist appointment and found out what my stones are made of. I’m a 26 year old female, have had at least 15 kidney stones and three surgeries in the past two and a half years.

The urologist said calcium oxalate stones are very common, but calcium phosphate stones are not. Bloodwork was normal and I have a 24 hour urine coming up to see if maybe it’s something dietary.

Just wandering if any of you out there make these types of stones and how maybe you prevented them if so? She also said I have medullary sponge kidneys which make me more likely to produce stones 😬 I see the kidney stone specialist in our area in a few weeks!

oxalate stones are the most common, but phosphate stones aren't uncommon by any means. I started making phosphate ones after i lowered my oxalate intake. turns out high urine calcium was the bigger issue for me. you'll find out a lot from your 24 hour collection. just eat like you normally would the day before/day of so you get an accurate representation of what's going on. increasing water intake is also huge

Calcium phosphate stones are rarer, and 15 stones in two and a half years tells me your urologist is right to dig deeper with that 24-hour urine test. Phosphate stones tend to form in more alkaline urine, so your urine pH is probably the key thing that the 24-hour test will reveal. If that's elevated, it's not really about avoiding specific foods the way it is with calcium oxalate. It's more about the chemistry of your urine itself. Hydration matters hugely for you too, but the real lever mi...

Idk if this will help but I have had calcium stones, but don't know which type. I'm on a diuretic called hydrochlorothiazide for many years now and I believe this has dramatically decreased stone formation. ( concurred by my doctor). Also never use Tums. I take papaya tablets instead if I need something extra for heartburn.
